Energy vs Time

How to achieve more with increasingly less is something most organisations battle with. The concept of managing energy to increase performance was popularised by Tony Schwartz and Catherine McCarthy of The Energy Project in New York.  However, physicists have been telling us for decades that the fundamental nature of all matter is energy. Although time is finite, the amount of energy we have at our disposal can be changed.

If leaders want to create a more engaged workforce, they must begin by effectively managing their own energy. In our patriarchal power driven society, value is placed on achievement at the expense of relationship. Sadly, it is the relationship with oneself that suffers the most.

Too many leaders seem to be deaf to their real needs. Being so out of tune with themselves, they operate constantly on adrenaline and their behaviour creates a culture of stress and burn out. It is madness. But all is not lost, it can be changed.

As a former chemical engineer, I often use physics to explain the dynamics behind human behaviour. It can be fun - honest! The first law of thermodynamics is about the conservation of energy. In other words, energy cannot be created or destroyed, it can only be transformed. Therefore to increase performance, we need to change the way we work and live.

The key energy pillars we have to play with are:

•             Physical - body, senses, sensation

•             Emotional - heart, feelings, emotions

•             Mental - mind, thoughts, unconscious

•             Spiritual - spirit, true self, purpose

Energy has a frequency and a vibration. We can change physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually - if we choose to. Notably, the most profound power of regeneration lies in our unconscious mind - our shadow self. That's why integrating shadow is a fundamental part of my coaching approach.

It's time to think differently about performance and tune-in to a new frequency on every level. If we continue as we are, we're fighting a losing battle at a huge human cost.

“Everything is energy and that's all there is too it. Match the frequency of the reality you want and you cannot help but get that reality. It can be no other way. This is not philosophy. This is physics."
